Growth Ruler Fun

Saturday, December 27, 2014

Word of mouth can spread like wild fire, and for this DIY I am thankful. I made a growth ruler for my home, so I can transfer the boy's heights to something a bit more creative than the white board we were using in the garage. Since making that first board I have made, and sold 10 plus growth ruler's (thank you pottery barn) for the inspiration. I have also given several away as gifts.

I wanted to share this one that I made for a friend. She did such an amazing job of putting it in her house. I love how she put her 2 boy's around the board. Isn't she creative? Now I know there are many of these floating around on Pinterest, but I had to show off this one too, it has so much character and love shown in one part of this house:).

Happy 10th Birthday Julian

I can not believe we have a 10 yr. old in the house. It seems like just yesterday I found out I was pregnant with Julian.  I use to sit and rub my growing belly in ahh that I was growing a human.
Julian has taught me so much about being a mama. Like it's ok to let him make  a peanut butter sandwich. It won't look like my PBJ, but it will give him the confidence to start making some of his own snacks, after all he is 10;). Julian has also taught me to slow down. To just sit back and enjoy the little moments because these are the moments that are so special, and treasured. I feel as though someone has hit the speed button since we had Julian, and the day to day doesn't go by fast, but the year's fly by. Thank you Julian for making me into the mama I am today. I treasure everyday with you.

Hemp, Bamboo, and a Dairy Free Diet Save the Day

Tuesday, August 5, 2014

Cruz is making strides on staying soil free........ Yippeeeee!! We have been working diligently with Seattle Children's Hospital to try and find a enema recipe for Cruz. We have been back and forth to the hospital more than we have liked over the last year. Cruz went from having 6 leaks a day to maybe 1-2 leaks a day in the last 1 1/2 weeks, so this is still new territory for us; and our finger's are crossed that the change in diet and enema recipe is working. 2 weeks ago the team that works with Cruz up at Seattle Children's Hospital told us that from a incontinence stand point Cruz is not ready for kindergarten. I thought well tell that to the little boy who is counting down day's until kindergarten starts so he can be in school with his big brother's and friend's.

So Scott and I have been trying everything from decreasing the amount of water and glycerin he gets in his morning enema to changing his dairy intake in his diet, and I think we found a good recipe:). I also started to  research the most absorbing material that will catch soils and still leave him without a rash. I found that bamboo and hemp are the most absorbent and will leave him rash free. I have started to sew hemp and the bamboo material to fit in his underwear and I attached velcro so it can be removed from his underwear easily. In case he does have a leak the hemp and bamboo material will keep it from running down his leg, or prevent him from having a wet stain on his pants:).

Cruz will be starting kindergarten in the fall, and we can not be more excited for him.

Our Little Fishies..........

Thursday, July 24, 2014

It has been such a fun summer watching Cruz as he joined his brother's on the Twin Lakes Swim Team.  He has become such a skilled swimmer since last summer, and it amazes me how his attitude is so positive despite some of his obstacles. There is something sweet about having a 5 yr. old in the house, and every time I hear him giggle, or see him smile I am reminded how blessed we are to have him. There are some swim meets Cruz could not participate in due to his medical condition, and we have been up to  Seattle Children's hospital more than I have wanted to this summer, but despite it all this little boy stays so positive.

Here is a picture of Cruz jumping in the deep end.

We are equally as proud of Cole and Julian and there great swimming capabilities. Here is Cole at swim practice.

Here is Julian exiting the pool after swimming the 50 meter free swim.

It's good to be loved.

Monday, June 9, 2014

Emma is in town visiting us from Hawaii, and we love having her here. We were giving Cole a good luck kiss before his baseball game. By the look on his face I think he liked it:).

Cruz Last Day of Preschool

Monday, June 2, 2014

Wow, what a wonderful accomplishment to see Cruz have his last day of preschool. If you follow my blog than you know Cruz has overcome some great obstacles. This year has been a big challenge to try and keep him soil free, due to his birth defect. Cruz and I will be going to Seattle Children's Hospital tomorrow to work with the specialist up there to see what we need to do to keep him from soil free. I want him to be able to start kindergarten and not have to worry about leaking, and being teased. You would never know that Cruz suffers from this, he has a zest for life that is so contagious. Even though I have day's I want to pull my hair out because we go through 3 pairs of clothing a day, I'm so very thankful that God chose me to be his mama.

Let's Play Ball

Monday, May 19, 2014

Cruz as catcher at his last game. This is not his favorite position to play, but he was a good sport:).

Here is a picture of Cole at his baseball game. He was pitcher, and was trying to locate where the ball was.

Hopefully on the next post I will have a picture of Julian.......) I have to say being a mama to these 4 busy boy's keeps me hopping, but I wouldn't change it for anything.

Great New Blog about Anal Rectal Malformations

Friday, May 9, 2014

If you know of anyone who suffers from this rare birth defect (Anal Rectum Malformation) there is a great new blog to check out. Cincinnati Children's Hospital is where we took Cruz to have his first surgery performed. Even though we did not get the outcome that we so anticipated I think they are full of good information. Here is the link.
http://cincinnatichildrensblog.org/rare-and-complex-conditions/will-my-child-ever-be-continent/#more-

They are also hosting an event on May 20th @ 7pm EST, it is a free online, live event to help parents and families understand the issues and frustrations related to imperforate anus in children and teens. This event will feature two of Cincinnati Children's Hospital physician experts to answer patient questions. They will talk about common issues and answer specific questions from families living with imperforate anus. If you would like to be in on this event here is the link to RSVP:   https://liveevent.cincinnatichildrensblog.org/events/anorectal-malformations

Best regards to anyone that is living through this with their child, as always I'm here as a RN and a mom to share our story and answer any questions.

Baseball has begun

Wednesday, April 30, 2014

Well we have been a bit busy at the Theiste household since Baseball, coach pitch, and t-ball is in full swing. Trying to manage everyone's schedule is a bit challenging to say the least, but with a little divide and conquer, sense of humor, and a lot of flexibility we are making it work:).  Here is a picture of Cruz. I will post other pictures of Julian and Cole when I make it to their games......)

Seeing Cruz all geared up and out playing brings such a smile to my face. He has been watching his older brother's and waiting for his turn to play for a long time.

Family Traditions

Monday, April 21, 2014

I love  family traditions, don't you? We want to establish as many family traditions as we can so our boy's will want to continue them with us when they have their own families.  Here are some of our fun pictures from yesterday. We had Sharon my mother in law over, and my mom and dad for ham and other fixings after we got back from church. We worked off our food with a fun couple of rounds of bocce ball.

The great ham carver..........

The second ham carver...........

The cutest cake ever that nana made for the boy's.

I ran out of space on my phone so I don't have any more pictures to share. I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter with their families.

Happy EasterOuf

Sunday, April 20, 2014

Eas·ter

the most important and oldest festival of the Christian Church, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ and held (in the Western Church) between March 21 and April 25, on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the northern spring equinox.

Easter is such a fun time of year, and if you believe in Jesus and his resurrection it's a wonderful time for celebration. I love that my boy's know why we celebrate Easter, and most important that they love Jesus. I also love the fun festivities that go along with it, like Easter egg coloring, and hunting, decorating the house with all the fun colorings that come home from school. I am reminded how lucky I' am to have such a happy, healthy loving family. Are there any family traditions that you would like to share? I would love to hear how your family celebrates.......... Cousin??

Yay, let's color some eggs.

We started with shirts on......)

Concentrate, concentrate

HAPPY EASTER!

I hope my boy's know how lucky they are to by one of 4 boy's. My hope is that they will be close their entire lives, live close to one another, and raise their families together someday:).

Roman is being smothered in all this love.

Here is mama with her favorite man.

I know someday they will find out what an amazing father they have. He literally lives and breaths for our family. Im one lucky girl!

Boy's, boy's boy's

Monday, March 31, 2014

I love being a mother to my four fun loving boy's. I was riding with Cruz the other day and he was asking about our grandma Lila, and great grandpa Joe. He said, "mom you know they are angel's in heaven now watching over us". I responded 'yes' and asked where he heard that. He said, "my brother Cole told me that". I thought Awww, just when you think they are not listening. I learned to never stop talking to them, and teaching them all the lessons you want them to learn because they are listening:).

Gardening with Epsom Salt

Thursday, March 27, 2014

Epsom salt has so many things that it can be used for, from a detox bath to using it in your garden. I use it for both.  I am going to show you a before picture of my raspberry plant.
I took this picture on March 9th 2014.

I took this picture on March 22nd 2014. Just 13 day's later. What is my secret??

The magnesium and sulfur that comprise Epsom salt helps your plants grow greener, produce higher yields and have more blooms! Isn't that amazing? What tips do you have? Do you use Epsom salt in your garden? Let me know if anyone has any before and after pictures they want to share. Happy Gardening!!

Garden Tips for a Plush Garden

Monday, March 24, 2014

So what an amazing weekend we had. It was full of sun and laughter, and 3 little boy's out weeding and catching bugs:). It is so amazing to watch how little boy's play, because they are so different than I was when I was out playing as a little girl. I would not dare catch a bumble bee with my bare hands, but my boy's do if they are dared enough times by there brother:).

Proud bumble bee catcher number one

Proud bumble bee catcher number two

Here are my two working so hard to get our garden looking good.

This is what one of them looks like all the way weeded. Here come the tips.........
Place an entire uncooked egg under the soil and plant your tomato plant right on top of it. It will give the tomato plant the calcium it needs. Genius and easy right? We also use banana peels, coffee grounds, and blended eggs. I will show you that in another post.

Get out there and enjoy this sun.

Spring has Sprung

Friday, March 21, 2014

Spring is here!! I love the spring time because everything comes to life. The bird's sing, the flowers blossom, the sun starts to shine, and the best part is we get to start our family garden. I will show you my before pictures, and I will show how it blossoms into this beautiful garden full of edible food, buzzing bees, butterflies, and 3 little boy's that can't leave their fingers out of the garden, (the best part of it all).

Wow, these look sad, but you will see them transform into beautiful green gardens. We start most everything from seed, that way the boy's get to watch them sprout. I will weed this weekend, and start planting my cold weather veggies. I am trying to decide if I should herbs for tea in one box this year, and our veggies in another. Stay tuned because I have not decided yet.   What do you plant in your garden?  Do you have any tips, or secrets you want to share? I do, but that will come later.

Happy Spring!!!

Onto to the Bookshelves

Wednesday, March 19, 2014

So I painted the bookshelves white.  Unfortunately, I don't have a picture to show you because I have to down load if from my camera, andI need my husband to show me how to do that:). Anyway I didn't like it all white so I decided to give it a pop of color. I found this great color from Benjamin Moore

So I added this to the back of the bookshelves.

Here is a picture before the shelves were put back in.

Here is the bookshelf put back together. I totally love it! I also painted repainted my back door this amazing color.

It is hard to get good lighting of this door, but trust me it looks great.

Lastly I added the color into one of my open cabinets with my dishes.

Now my question is should I repaint my island the same color? Cousin what do you think?

Choose Happy!!!

Saturday, March 15, 2014

I love the above saying, along with the trees in the background. It reminds me of a skyline from California, and since my younger brother lives their it makes me smile every time I see it.

This  Picture just looks like fun. Do you remember being a kid with no responsibility, and acting carefree? I love these 3 little people, and I'm so glad they are able to enjoy the little things.

Happy Saturday to all.......... Today do what makes your soul shine:).
